Description

Two hundred years ago this building pressed olives. Today it is an independent villa of about 350 m² of living space, set on the hillside below the medieval town of San Miniato, halfway between Florence and Pisa.

The conversion of the old olive mill was carried out with an architect, and it shows throughout. Polished stone floors with terracotta inlay, exposed beams and terracotta ceilings, tall arched glazing in solid timber and a large circular window closed by a wrought iron grille, the signature of the house. Fine materials, chosen one by one and laid by hand.

Ground floor

A through entrance hall opens onto the double height living room, lit by the full wall of glazing that brings the garden inside. From here the cantilevered staircase rises without visible support. On the same level, the dining area with fireplace, the eat in kitchen beneath the beams with a professional range, and a study fitted with bespoke cabinetry. A guest bathroom and direct access to the arched loggia and the terraces complete the floor.

First floor

The sleeping quarters, served by the cantilevered staircase and overlooking the double height hall. The bedrooms enjoy open views over the countryside and toward the town. The main bathroom, clad in marble, features a corner whirlpool tub and a window opening directly onto the olive trees. A terrace and balconies complete the level.

Garden level

A full entertaining floor articulated by slender columns, with an arched window and glazed doors on two sides opening flush with the garden. It currently holds a games room and a glazed sun room, and lends itself to a guest suite, wine room, gym or studio. Technical and service rooms sit on the same level.

Grounds

A covered arched loggia frames the valley, wide terraces step down through oleanders, roses and geraniums to the private pool, screened by mature hedging and cypress. An independent garage of about 65 m², a private drive and 5,13 hectares of land with around 300 olive trees, enough for your own oil each year.
